Hi, I’m Serena, the founder behind Wonder Travel Studio.
I started Wonder Travel Studio because travel truly changed my life, and I wanted to build a business centered on helping people see more of the world in a way that lights them up.

Traveling has shaped who I am.
I was 17 years old the first time I left the United States, and the travel bug bit me hard. It was a transformative experience, and it inspired me to study in Italy during college, move to Scotland upon graduation, and (in between working, of course), travel the world. I believe that travel is the best education out there, and that we become better people when we get to experience more of it.
Since that first trip so many years ago, my travels have taken me around the globe. I’ve walked 500 miles through Spain, crossed the Atlantic Ocean by ship, worked as a barmaid in Edinburgh, changed diapers in Phnom Penh, and I'm always on the lookout for my next big adventure.
As a parent, I understand the special requirements and challenges that come when you travel with your kids, and I know how to best address them.
My life has changed a lot in recent years, the biggest change being that I’m now a mom to two young kids. My boys are awesome and delicious and fun.
They are also wild and crazy, so I know how challenging traveling with children can be. I know that sometimes the thought of a family vacation can feel the complete opposite of an actual vacation.
But, I also know that with the right planning, it doesn’t have to be that way. It can be amazing and life changing and, even… easy!
I believe that getting out of your day-to-day routine, exploring new cultures, and making lifelong memories is one of the best gifts you can give yourself and your family.

Before I decided to turn my passion for travel into a career and start Wonder Travel Studio, I spent over a decade doing marketing and editorial work for corporations and start-ups in the San Francisco Bay Area. I sometimes dabble in travel writing, and my work has appeared in various print and online publications, including The Best Women's Travel Writing and The Huffington Post.
A citizen of the world at heart, I currently live in Denver, Colorado with my husband and two crazy boys.

I developed my love of travel at a young age on family trips with a magical helicopter ride over a Hawaiian volcano and snorkeling the waters of the British Virgin Islands. My zest for adventure has brought me to the ends of the earth and left me with a full passport, and a full heart. I have swam up to the edge of Victoria Falls in Zambia, flown by seaplane to see grizzly bears in British Columbia, and hiked the Great Wall of China.
Professionally, I have planned VIP events, travel and entertainment for clients at 5 Olympic Games, PGA golf tournaments, and the World Cup. My expertise included managing itineraries for C-level guests internationally, including accommodations, meals, transportation and special activities.
After years of corporate travel planning, vacations, family trips and girls' weekends, I decided to transform my passion for travel into a job and joined Wonder Travel Studio.
When I’m not scouting new locations, designing itineraries and planning travel experiences, I can be found exploring new destinations throughout the world. I love to submerge myself into the culture, food, and unique experiences every destination has to offer. I am always looking for my next adventure to share with my clients!

I will never forget watching a lone lioness walk down a dirt path in the Serengeti. Her every step, her calmness, the silence, the sunset. In a hectic world, I felt completely at peace watching as she slowly put one paw in front of the other. I will also never forget the time I got away from my kids in Napa Valley and sat in a gorgeous spa all weekend (seriously).
If I know anything, it's that I want more of those moments. I believe these experiences shape each of us to be more empathetic and understanding, and are worth seeking. What travel experience do you want to create in the future?
Having lived in Chicago and Los Angeles, I currently live in Washington, DC with my husband and 3-year old and 1-year-old girls.
